About me
My name is Mariusz. I come from Poland. I'm 55.
I have been living in the UK for 6 years.
In Poland, I lost my job (the company I worked for went bankrupt) and when I started looking for a new job, it turned out that I was too old to find a new good job.
The fees and mortgage had to be paid on a regular basis, of course. So I made a decision to go to England, where I started working and earning money.
The wife and daughter remained in Poland.
About my record collection
In Poland, when I was doing well, I collected records with classical music. It was not a large collection - CDs prices in relation to earnings in Poland are high.
Shortly after coming to England, I thought about selling my entire record collection. I no longer felt the need to have them. I think it was due to my separation from my family and my alienation from my new country.
However, when I started checking the prices of used CDs, it turned out that they are low even in relation to my earnings. Many of the recordings that I have always dreamed of having turned out to be here at hand.
So the end result was that instead of selling my collection, I started to expand it.
I was working overtime to buy new albums for my collection.
About the blog
Recordings that I listened to in Poland came largely from the Internet. I obtained them from various sources (as did many of us).
However, when in the UK, after work, I was sitting alone in my room and taking care of my new collection, I decided to do something extra with it.
I've always taken music, now I decided to give it to people, to share with them with joy with listening of good music. It always helped me get through difficult times.
The idea for a music blog was born, which I have been implementing until today.
Time of crisis
Unfortunately, last year has brought enormous changes in the world that have affected us all.
Many of us fell ill, lost jobs, lost businesses.
It was a shock to many of us (and still is).
Unfortunately, I also lost my job - as a result of the restrictions, most of the companies were closed.
Financial problems, stress, separation from my family caused a drop in my health.
About health
I lost my permanent job last year. I lived day by day, saving myself by taking accidental works, selling CDs and thanks to the goodness of friends.
I did not think about returning to Poland, because the situation there is certainly not better.
These financial troubles, bad mental condition and stress had an impact on my health.
One day I felt bad enough that my housemate called an ambulance.
In the hospital it turned out that I had a heart attack. I recovered quite quickly, but I still feel the effects of this event even today. I still take heart medications and antidepressants, and my physical condition is much less than before this event.
About the blog community
I managed to survive (and still do) practically only thanks to you - people I don't know personally gathered around my blog.
This is really an amazing thing. I never realized how many people can help others selflessly.
For this, I am very grateful to you and it drives me to continue my actions.
Many of you emphasize that you are helping me not for the music which I present on the blog, but simply to help me as a person in need.
Yes, I know about it, but I would like to thank you somehow and give something back from myself - that's why I want this blog to continue and develop.
I think that with your help it will be possible to implement my/our new project.
