Marcin Józef Żebrowski - Polish composer, violinist and singer (bass) of the late Baroque and Classicist period.
Alternative spelling of surnames: Ziebrowski, Żebro, Zebro and first names: Martino Giuseppe, Josepho, Melchiore, Ignatio, Carolo.
He probably studied abroad, as evidenced by the discovery in London of the autograph of Concerto grosso, dated 1748, and of his symphony and sonata published in Amsterdam. The few documented biographical data come from the archives of the monastery Pauline Fathers at Jasna Góra in Częstochowa.
It is known that in 1748–1765 he was employed in the Jasna Góra ensemble as a secular musician and teacher.
Żebrowski is a leading Polish composer of the pre-classical period, a representative of the galant style in sacred music, which is most evident in the ornamentation of his melodic lines. However, in some of his works it is easy to notice features typical of the late Baroqu.
